Raj Shah – Chairman

A software engineer by profession, Indian culture enthusiast, ardent promoter of Hinduism, and a cancer survivor, Raj Shah is a very positive and forward thinking person. Living in the United States since 1969, he considers the US as his Karmabhoomi, but does not forget his Mathrubhumi India even for a minute.

Promoting the rich culture and heritage of India has been his motto ever since he arrived in the US. Keeping those principles in mind he co-founded an organization – the VIP (Volunteers of India’s Progress) Club in Clifton, New Jersey, in 1972. Since then, he has been instrumental in promoting several community organizations.

Since retiring from his computer business, Advanced Microcomputer Systems Inc., Raj works full-time as Managing Editor of Desh-Videsh Magazine, which he founded in 1993 with his wife Aruna Shah. Besides serving as a Chairman of Board of Directors, Hindu University of America, South Florida Center, he is very active in several local and national non-profit organizations.

Raj agrees with an Arnold Palmer, Golf Champion when he said, “If the mark of happiness is loving what you do, and doing what you love, then I am the happiest man who ever lived.”

Granddad (Dada) of four lovely grandchildren, Raj is a family man and strongly believes in the old Hindu concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – “The whole world is one family.”

Sanjay Chandran

Sanjay Chandran, is an alumni of Penn State University and is among eleven young alumni who received the Penn State Alumni Association’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2006. Chandran is currently the chief executive officer of Go Mobile Health, Inc. He has also been the CEO of InnoMed Technologies, Inc. He is also currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors at Hindu University of America – South Florida Center.

Mr. Chandran is the inventor or co-inventor of several patented technology, including patents for unique fabrication methods and designs for ultrasonic transducers used in medical imaging. He has developed commercially successful, real-time 3D ultrasound and multi-layer piezoelectric transducers. Both of these technologies have a huge worldwide market. He has authored or co-authored several publications on novel sensors and actuator technologies, piezoelectric materials, etc., in leading scientific journals, such as Applied Physics Letters, and presented at symposia organized by IEEE and SPIE.

Mr. Chandran began his career as an acoustic engineer for Parallel Design, Inc. (which was acquired by GE Healthcare in 2000) in Tempe, Arizona. In 1999, he was promoted to manage the firm’s R&D division comprised of twelve engineers. He climbed up the ladder quickly and as a senior executive with GE Healthcare, he grew the company’s global ultrasound probes business from $11 million in annual revenues to more than $40 million in annual revenues in just three years. In 2003, GE Healthcare recognized Mr. Chandran with the fastest growing business award.

At Penn State, he was actively involved in the International Student Council and Indian Student Association. He plays the violin and regularly performs in concerts and with his contemporary world music band “Global Rhythms.” He and his wife, Sapna, live in Boca Raton with their daughter, Sanjana.

Shekar Reddy

Shekar Reddy was born in India and has been living in Florida for the past 30 years. He is a successful business owner with 28 years of retail experience and actively supports the local communities in which he does business.

Mr. Reddy is co-founder of the Gummakonda Reddy Foundation, a non-profit charity organization whose main purpose is to provide assistance to people in need, both locally and globally. Shekar is also a founding trustee of the Gandhi Square of Florida in the city of Davie and serves on the state advisory board for Ekal Vidyalaya, an organization that supports education in rural tribal areas of India. He was recently a recipient of the community covenant award from friends at Broward outreach center, Hollywood. He also received the corporate partner of the year award from Jaycees in 2012 and a 2012 business leader award in the small business category.

Mr. Reddy is a member of the Board of Directors for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Board Member of the South Florida Hindu Temple, a trustee of the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation and a trustee of Param Shakti Peeth of America.

Shekar and his wife, Shylaja, are avid followers of Hinduism, which promotes believing in universal acceptance, pluralism, and seeing divinity in all. They both both volunteer at the Shiva Vishnu Temple and support all other Hindu organizations and community events, along with their two children, Rohith and Shruthi.

Mahesh Bhuta


Mahesh Bhuta, a family man and friend to many is very proud of his Hindu heritage and upbringing and is always anxious to share its virtues and benefits with others. While growing up in the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai, Mahesh interacted with friends from other beliefs and felt strongly that his Hindu family upbringing, traditions and practices helped him personally, to handle tough events and sharing these practices with others in their time of need, also helped them through their rough patches.


An engineer from Mumbai IIT, by education, Mahesh came to the US and continued engineering and business studies. He has worked more than 30 years as a computer hardware and software product developer, many of them in Florida for large corporations like IBM, Motorola and Blackberry. While authoring numerous patents, he has managed teams in the US and overseas, that have launched numerous new products for these corporations. He is currently working as a Financial Planner with his son and interacts with many friends from all walks of life. His satisfaction comes from using the principles he grew up with, that of sincerity, sharing and long term planning to develop mental and physical contentment in others.
